Kōkua Financial · Mark McCormick, CPA

ʻŌlelo is word or speech. Hoʻohiki is to vow or promise. Together, ʻōlelo hoʻohiki is a solemn promise: a word you give and then keep. In a small community, your word travels. On an island, it travels faster.

We built Kōkua Financial around a few promises that are easy to make and hard to keep. We think they are worth keeping.

Promise one: the price is the price

Monthly bookkeeping is a fixed fee, typically $350 to $1,500 a month depending on your transaction volume. Tax returns are quoted at a fixed price, in writing, before we start. You never get a surprise invoice for an amount nobody mentioned.

If something new comes up, such as a second business, a rental you bought mid-year or another state return, we tell you first and agree on it before doing the extra work. A promise that can change without warning isn’t a promise.

Promise two: the deadline is the deadline

GET and TAT returns are due on the 20th of the month after the filing period. Payroll filings have their own calendar. We don’t treat those dates as suggestions. If we need something from you to file on time, we ask early.

Promise three: we say what we will do, then do it

  • If we say your reporting package arrives every month, it arrives every month.
  • If we say we will call you back, we call you back.
  • If we can’t do something, we say so, and we tell you who can.

Why this matters for a small business

Owners hesitate to call an accountant who bills by the hour. That hesitation costs money, because the questions are often where the savings are. A fixed fee you can trust removes the hesitation. Call, ask, and know that the answer is already paid for.

That is our ʻōlelo hoʻohiki to every client. Book a free 30-minute call and we will put ours in writing for you.
