Kōkua Financial · Mark McCormick, CPA

Kūlia i ka nuʻu means “strive to reach the summit,” or strive for the highest. It was the motto of Queen Kapiʻolani, who founded a maternity home and championed the health of the Hawaiian people. It is still used today as a call to excellence.

We are careful with a phrase that carries that much history. We use it because it describes something we believe: excellence isn’t one big leap. It is the next accurate step, repeated.

Excellence in the everyday work

  • Accurate, every month. Reconciliations that tie out, categories that make sense, and a CPA review of every month’s work before it reaches you.
  • On time, every time. Books closed on a schedule, and GET, TAT and payroll filings submitted by their due dates.
  • Clear reporting. A monthly package you can read in ten minutes, with a short note on anything that changed.

Helping you climb

For many owners, the summit is a goal: buying the building, adding a second location, hiring a manager so you can take a day off, or handing the business to the next generation. Good books are the trail. You can’t plan the climb without knowing where you stand.

When you are ready, we can help with budgets, cash forecasts and a clear picture of which parts of the business make money. And when a business outgrows bookkeeping, our parent firm, Mark M. McCormick, CPA, provides CFO-level support.

Striving, not perfection

Kūlia i ka nuʻu is about effort and direction, not perfection on day one. If your books are behind today, the first step is simply to get them current. The next step is to keep them that way.

Start with a free 30-minute call and we will map the first few steps together.
